Primanti Brothers - Harmarville, PA

Thursday 6/30/11

I have had the pizza from Primanti Brothers on Anchor Drive in Harmarville several times.  I feel their sandwiches are overrated, and most other things on their menu are mediocre, but they do have a decent pie.  Since I have eaten the pizza several times, I have seen how good, and how bad, it can be.  I will base my review on the one I received tonight.  Generally though, they don't drop the ball any more than any other pizza shop, I just have more experience with them.

The crust is a crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside.  Personally, I prefer a bit thicker outer crust, but there is nothing wrong with this one.  It has a good taste to it.  The sauce is really good.  Usually there is an entire stewed tomato or two on the pizza that didn't get crushed into sauce, which I enjoy.  The sauce is very fresh and flavorful tasting.  My only complaint is that sometimes, like tonight, they go a bit heavy on the sauce.  I am a fan of the New York style pizza, so I am fond of light sauce; But at least it is a good sauce.  I am pretty sure they use whole milk mozzarella, and a good bit of it.  Overall, the pizza was very good, and I would recommend trying it.

          Crust: 7/10
          Sauce: 7.5/10
          Toppings: 8/10
          Overall: 7.5/10
