Fortino's - Oakmont, PA

Tonight I decided to give Fortino's on Plum St. in Oakmont a try.  I had heard their pizza was alright and that their sandwiches were great.  I have tried their pizza once in the past so I knew what to expect.

The crust wasn't anything special.  It was thinner on the outer part and a bit thicker under the topping than I like and it was also slightly bland.  The sauce was decent and they used a proper amount.  The cheese was good and the portion of it were right.  The prices on the pizza at Fortino's are very good. It is only $10 for an 18" pie.  Overall, it was decent.  When doing research on pizza I had read a few reviews calling it a knock off of Veltre's.  I really don't see the connection.  Both are in the style of about 80% of the pizzas in the region.  If Fortino's had sprinkled the pizza with parmesan cheese I might say it is a Veltre's imitation.  Next time I will try a hoagie as I have heard they are excellent.  I'd be open to having their pizza again but it would not be my first choice in the area.

          Crust: 5/10
          Sauce: 6.5/10
          Topping: 7/10
          Overall: 6/10
